Tilt and turn windows have been a popular choice of window in many countries for some time. There are many advantageous properties of tilt and turn windows that explain this success. A tilt and turn window operates by a single lever which controls both the tilt and the turn. Typically a quarter turn of the lever will allow the window to swing inwards like a casement window. A second quarter turn will allow the window to tilt inwards from the top.

Tilt and turn windows offer a number of advantages including, but not limited to, the following. A 90° turn of the handle allows the window to operate as a side-hung inward opening casement, to allow the window to be safely and easily cleaned from the inside Therefore there is no need to climb ladders or clean from the outside. Closing the casement and turning the handle by a further 90° operated the bottom hung, inward opening, 'tilt' function. This ventilation position is controlled by a restrictor arm built into the head of the frame, and cannot be accessed from the outside, thus offering secure excellent indirect ventilation.

That is any draughts are directed upwards and so there are a more constant airing. If more ventilation is required at anytime than is allowed by the tilt function then the window can always be fully opened using the other method of opening. The operation is very easy with both opening functions operated by a single lever.
The tilt and turn windows are also very secure with the entire perimeter locked into place by the single lever. This style of window is a good combination of classical styles and modern technologies and is extremely versatile.

Another option gives the flexibility to use additional devices such as 'caretaker handles'; these will restrict the window to tilt mode only for ventilation, unless a key is inserted into the handle. This means that for safety or security, only authorised persons who have the key can access the turn mode for cleaning.

For doors and big sized windows it is possible to go with two leaves without a post in the middle when both leaves are open.

Tilt & slide is a system is made for smaller sizes (up to 3760 mm with a single door and up to 7400 for a double door). It has got a tilt function, but be aware there is a 85 mm high frame on the bottom to step over. It operates similar to a normal window. You turn the handle and the door goes into a tilt position. If you turn the handle further on the leaf will jump to the inside guided by little arms and it runs sideways inside of the fixed glass.
The system can work also with two leaves in the middle and two fixed parts each side. So it is possible to cover openings up to 10 meters in width.
